According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Boupendza's cell phone was stolen in November, 2023 in his native Gabon. Now, two months on, a group of people has accessed the phone and are threatening to release the video unless an undisclosed amount of funds are released to them from the MLS forward. If the video were to be released, he could face extreme consequences from the government of Gabon.
FC Cincinnati – according to the report – is issuing their full support behind their winger, despite not making a public statement.

The DailyMail reported Thursday that the video has already been leaked, and that the winger is – as a result – facing both potential jailtime and a fine in his native Gabon.
The report cites Gabonese Penal Code, article 430, which states: 'Anyone, who distributes, records or transmits the image or representation of an adult when this image or this representation is of a pornographic nature is punishable by up to five years of imprisonment and 10,000,000 FCFA fine at most.'
FC Cincinnati is of the belief that Boupendza is the victim in this situation, per the report from the Enquirer.
